A one-day class for beginners. By the end of the day you will have turned a small bowl from a green wood blank, and you will know how to do it again.
We start with lathe safety, tool grinds, and stance — the unglamorous things that prevent injuries and bad bowls. Then I demonstrate the full process from rough blank to finished form. After lunch you turn your own bowl. I'm next to you the whole time, and we troubleshoot in real time.
No experience required. All tools, wood, and finish are provided. Bring closed-toe shoes, safety glasses if you have them, and clothes you do not mind getting covered in shavings.
You will leave with: a finished bowl, the confidence to keep practicing, and a sore back.
